Not surprised to see you crying over me not liking your MUSIC SENT FROM GOD.
No, I don't care that you don't like the music I like. We're two very different people with very different likes. I'm not crying, either. It just makes me lose a little bit of faith in humanity every time someone makes idiotic ignorant opinions on anything.

First off, Arkatos you're probably one of the more immature posters I've read on this board. Every time I seem to see a post from you, it's some load of ludacris bull shit or an attempt to make the opposing poster look stupid. You mentioned you're 17 and you think you're mature. Give me a break man.
I know I'm not mature as an adult, but I think I'm quite mature for a 17 year old. You don't know me, so I really could care less about what you think. Thanks for your opinion, bro.

But we do share similar opinions. The rap of today is complete garbage.

Oh, I see. Different opinion = ignorant and idiotic.

But I have to agree that while today's rap is a pile of puke that I would never listen to sane and sober, I enjoy some (SOME) pieces by Dr Dre (What's The Difference) or 2Pac (Ghetto Gospel). It's just that I never hear those songs on the radio (okay, maybe except for 2Pac, because he doesn't have that many swears in them), and the overwhelming majority of those that I do are "new rap".

To be honest living by songs is pretty stupid. Sure, there are messages in songs that you agree with, but just because someone says "I took drugs" in a verse doesn't mean you should do that. Just because someone says they got pushed to the edge of their sanity doesn't mean that you should commit homocide or suicide because it's "cool". Some songs have the songwriters pouring their hearts on it, spreading their messages and feelings on countless things, maybe to say "this isn't as good as you think", "these people are just mental" or something. Don't look at people who take the songs to heart but misunderstand the message, listen to it and make your own decision.

That's not one I'm saying. I'm saying judging by your posts on this matter, you have no clue about rap. Everyone has different opinions, and I respect that. If I said the rap of today is amazing and called you an idiot for thinking it's garbage, then I'd be thinking a different opinion = ignorant and idiotic. But that's not the case.

And yes, what's the difference and ghetto gospel are good songs. <3

Rappers can't compare to Mayhem when it comes to violence. So one day your singer blows their brains out with a shotgun, then you replace him and use the actual bloody skull fragments as pendants in your album cover photo o_0

And the rap music is generally devoid of talent.

Metal/Rock wins.

I can generally get into both genres provided they aren't mainstream and annoying. Mainstream rap can have some pretty cool loops, though.

Second music is pretty much my passion and biggest escape. I've seen hundreds of bands live and can honestly say I live for the stuff now. I've seen bands ranging from AFI to Marilyn Manson and everything in between. Nine Inch Nails is my personal favorite as I'm am pretty much obsessed with them. The amount of shit Trent Reznor has been through and looking at where he is now in his life is pretty remarkable. He incorporates some of the most thought out ideas with sounds and instruments no one else will ever come close to duplicating.

In short, rap of this generation isn't worth more than I can throw it. T.I.? Lil' Wayne? Young Jeezy? Give me a break. MTV ruined a lot of stuff out there, including the culture of rap. I live in South Dakota, the biggest city that is, and I see these kids listening to this shit, I'm sorry but you're not a gangster...Your parents are probably farmers and you're rebeling against jack shit. Give me some good old 2pac, Dr. Dre, or NWA that actually had some substance to it. Until then, it's all cookie cutter wannabe's trying to get their shit on MTV. And for the record Fall Out Boy and Nickelback can blow it out their ass.

some of the thinggs you are saying is right and some wrong and arkantos he doesnt talk BS bcuz he clearly says the truth.and look at the posters ppl saying rap is retards attempting poetry.ok so thats insulting rap.i know there are a lot of rock supportes buy he is clearly saying the truth buy one thing you are right about is crap rappers like lil wayne T.I we know rap is dying but there some unknown rappers and the known good rappers like eminem,dr dre, jayz.there still trying to make rap better but yea the good rappers die fast.but arkantos might be litening to good rappers and why does everybody think rappers are lil wayne and stuff how about dre, eminem etc.

the intelligence quotient of this post illustrates my point

edit: it just occurred to me, this guy, and therangereminem both are equally unintelligble and reference the same RAPPER

First off, you're retarded.

Second - NIN is horrible. Horrible
HorribleHorribleHorribleHorrible. No one cares that you've seen everything live. Marilyn Manson and AFI are just pure shit. Also, nice work on insulting an Admin, moron.

Rap is as valid a musical enterprise as rock is. Your intolerance and ignorance is just pathetic.

"I hate everything about you, why do I love you", "I wanna RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you like an animal"...most rock music these days are people screaming or talking about how much pain is in their lives through some relationship or another.

And if you're a metalhead, you listen to the most degenerate musical form out there, so gg.

Oh joy, I love these kinds of threads...
I personally prefer rap over rock. But that doesn't say anything about the quality of the music, since it's all just an opinion. If everybody on this forum would prefer rock over rap, that doesn't change a single thing in my opinion.

Some people like the music you see on TV, but the majority that has "outgrown" the chart topping music, will most likely say the same thing; the artists on tv aren't the best in their genre.
If you base your view on rap by the artists on MTV; I can't blame you for not liking rap, but most of the more experienced rock fans probably don't like the "rock" bands you see on MTV either.

As for some of the rap/hiphop artists I like; Blue Scholars, Common Market, CYNE, CunninLynguists

NIN "Closer" is actually good for one thing, if you slice out all the lyrics in the middle. The audio track in the beginning is very good in my experience as a reference test for setting bass levels and calibrating bass management. The alternating low frequency pulses are excellent for that. The hideous screeching and grinding sound at the end makes for a stress test of your tweeter's high frequency response. If your speakers are bad/poor quality, you may not even hear it.

I don't particularly care for anything from NIN apart from those select audio tracks for testing purposes.

1. His point was not that he LIKED it, but to say that he has seen it, and because he has seen it to come into the argument on a semi-neutral level. Manson and AFI are way different...
2. Manson is pro
3.'"I hate everything about you, why do I love you', 'I wanna RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you like an animal'" is NOT rock, much like you say 50 cent or whatever is not real rap (which I agree on)
4. Here are some links to real rock (from my perspective)Korn- Kill You , Korn-Daddy
If you can listen to these songs and not get the meaning (go ahead and read the lyrics if you want), then you have no understanding of life or emptiness.

Rock. I'm not gonna bother with posting any self-righteous bullshit as to why I like it and why what someone else likes is bad, since nobody really gives a damn about someone random on the internet's tastes in the first place. Listen to what you want, but if I'm driving, your ass is listening to rock or not riding with me, that simple.

Exactly, I'm saying I've seen rock on almost all genres they have out there now. Be it screamo, metal, rock, alternative, you name it. I just seen Korn a month ago and am seeing them again in another month and a half.

Edit: On another note. Good job snowbunny for attempting to twist my post around into that it was a personal attack on rap. As far as insulting a 17 year old moderator on a forum...Well, compared to some of the crap I've seen him say about some posters, I'm pretty timid.

Everyone in this thread seems to be associating ALL of rap with Gangster Rap. Pretty sure that's not all there is.
